Dr. Jeffrey
J Eger has practiced optometry since 1975 in Tempe and Mesa, where he is
recognized as an authority on new developments in contact lenses,
orthokeratology (nearsightedness prevention) and vision therapy with
both adults and children. He has been engaged as a consultant in these
specializations, and has been interviewed several times on KTVK-TV and
KPNX-TV in Phoenix. He has lectured to the National Eye Research
Foundation in 1991 and 1994 on orthokeratology and keratoconus contact
lens fitting and rehabilitation of diseased and distorted corneas. Dr.
Eger is a Certified Hypnotherapist and a member of the
American Board of Hypnotherapy.
Dr. Eger has been editor of the Arizona Optometric
Association Journal, recipient of a Presidential Award for outstanding
service to optometry, and in 1986-87 chairman of Save Your Vision
Week. He is a member of the Bausch & Lomb Sports Advisory
Committee and of the Optometric Education Foundation. He is a
fellow of the National Eye Research Foundation of Orthokeratology
Section since 1984.
In addition to his professional activities, Dr. Eger
served as President of the Tempe Jaycees in 1979-80, was named Jaycee Of
The Year in 1981, and Outstanding Young Man in 1982. He has also
been active with the Tempe Lions, Toastmasters and Boys and Girls
Clubs. On the lighter side, he was named "Mr. Legs" in a
competition for the best male legs to promote the Tempe Women's Club's
first Red Garter Follies, in which he also sang and danced.
Dr. Eger did his pre-professional studies at Bethany
College in West Virginia and received his Doctor of Optometry degree
from the Southern College of Optometry. In 2004, Dr. Eger received
a certification in
Hypnotherapy from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Born in Aliquippa, PA., he
was also a sixth-grade
teacher in Ohio for two years.
